About Us
Founded in 2008 within the Faculty of Engineering at Iğdır University, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering began its academic journey by admitting its first students in the 2016-2017 academic year. Since its establishment, our department has continued to provide education with a growing academic staff, robust infrastructure, and up-to-date technological applications, aiming to equip students with the skills to become competent engineers in the field
Graduates of our Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department find a wide range of career opportunities both in Turkey and abroad across various sectors. Our alumni can work as engineers, consultants, or managers in fields such as energy, automotive, telecommunications, healthcare, and manufacturing. Our department aims to prepare students for the engineering world by enhancing their problem-solving skills, analytical thinking abilities, and innovative perspectives.
The language of instruction in our department is Turkish, and educational activities are conducted in a formal education format. Additionally, international students who successfully complete their Turkish language training are also admitted to our program. This enriches cultural diversity and provides our students with a global perspective, as we cater to both a national and international student community.
Our department offers a wealth of hands-on learning opportunities. The Basic Electricity Laboratory, Basic Electronics Laboratory, and Logic Laboratory, which are actively used each year, provide a comprehensive practical foundation for students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge. In these laboratories, students gain a deeper understanding of engineering principles and acquire practical experience through various projects.
Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a field specializing in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical energy, as well as the development, use, and control of all types of electronic devices and communication systems. Our students are equipped with the competence to design, assemble, and operate systems that produce and consume electrical energy from various sources, such as hydraulic and nuclear power. Additionally, they graduate with the skills needed for design, production, operation, and maintenance in fields like communications, industrial control, medical electronic devices, and computer-based systems. Throughout this process, students also acquire essential management skills, such as workforce planning and cost estimation, which are crucial in engineering projects.
To succeed in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering program, students must achieve passing grades in all courses, complete a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00. During their four-year education, our students gain industry experience and practical application of theoretical knowledge by completing a total of 40 business days of internships across two separate periods. This internship program helps prepare students to enter the workforce as skilled and experienced professionals.
As the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Iğdır University, we aim to equip our students and graduates with the knowledge, skills, and vision they need to thrive as pioneering professionals across various industries.
